Is the first verse music of "Life Is Like a Boat" influenced by gospel/traditional hymns?

Okay, fine, I am a sucker for cliché harmonies and nice melodies.

I had a very chilling moment that reminded me of a stark reality just before I wrote this post.

The only reason it was 'chilling' was because I was listening to "Tension" from Metroid Fusion. The event was something I hadn't thought of, but it wasn't at all even the least bit scary, honestly.

I love Chopin's (piano) Concerto in E (minor), Op. 11.

Then again, I love quite a lot of his music. But this concerto and his (piano) Sonata in B minor Op. 58 are two of my most favorites. They will pretty much permanently hold deep meaning and enjoy deep appreciation within my soul.
